UN High Commissioner raises human rights situation in Tibet

ICT echoes criticism by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, regarding the human rights situation in Tibet. In his Global Update before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva today, Türk expressed that he is “concerned about the impact of education policy and the restriction of freedom of expression and religion in the Tibet Autonomous Region.”

ICT mourns passing of Gyalo Thondup (1928-2025)

Kasur Gyalo Thondup, one of the prime figures in modern Tibetan history and the second eldest brother of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, passed away today at his home in Kalimpong, India. He was 97 years old.
