{"id":4127,"date":"2021-08-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-02T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/savetibet.nl\/nieuws\/china-zet-nobelwinnaars-onder-druk-om-de-dalai-lama-niet-uit-te-nodigen\/"},"modified":"2025-10-27T14:05:02","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T13:05:02","slug":"china-zet-nobelwinnaars-onder-druk-om-de-dalai-lama-niet-uit-te-nodigen","status":"publish","type":"nieuws","link":"https:\/\/savetibet.eu\/nl\/nieuws\/china-zet-nobelwinnaars-onder-druk-om-de-dalai-lama-niet-uit-te-nodigen\/","title":{"rendered":"China zet nobelwinnaars onder druk om de Dalai Lama niet uit te nodigen"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Wereldberoemde wetenschappers en het Amerikaanse ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken hebben de Chinese regering een waarschuwing gegeven nadat zij had geprobeerd te voorkomen dat de Dalai Lama zou spreken op een bijeenkomst van de Nobelprijswinnaars.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Meer dan 100 Nobelprijswinnaars hebben op 28 juli een brief ondertekend waarin zij meedelen dat de Chinese ambassade in Washington DC eind maart en begin april een hoge vertegenwoordiger van de Amerikaanse Nationale Academie van Wetenschappen &#8211; die samen met de Nobelstichting de Nobelprijs-top in april organiseerde &#8211; heeft gebeld en erop heeft aangedrongen zowel de Dalai Lama als de Taiwanese wetenschapper Yuan T. Lee niet uit te nodigen.<\/p>\n<p>Op 25 april stuurde de ambassade een e-mail aan de academie, waarin zij opnieuw eiste dat de Dalai Lama en Lee niet zouden spreken op de top.<\/p>\n<p>Nadat aan deze eisen geen gehoor was gegeven, werd de top getroffen door een vermoedelijke cyberaanval tijdens de eerste online sessie op 26 april &#8211; gevolgd door een andere cyberaanval die het hele platform verstoorde op 27 april, de dag van de toespraken van de Dalai Lama.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Deze kwestie rond de Nobelprijs-top is het zoveelste voorbeeld van de Chinese regering die de wereld vertelt: Do as I say, not as I do. China beweert dat elke kritiek op de onderdrukking in Tibet buitenlandse inmenging is, maar dat weerhoudt de Chinese regering er niet van om zich te bemoeien met de interactie die regeringen, organisaties en individuen hebben met de Dalai Lama. De Dalai Lama heeft altijd rekening gehouden met de belangen van de mensheid, met inbegrip van de Chinezen en de Tibetanen. Als Chinese functionarissen hem zelf ontmoeten, kunnen ze de man van vrede zien die hij werkelijk is.&#8221; Aldus International Campaign for Tibet<\/p>\n<p><strong>De videoboodschap van de Dalai Lama voor de Nobelprijs-top<\/strong><br \/>\nICT voegde eraan toe dat de pogingen van China om de Dalai Lama te beletten tijdens de top te spreken nog absurder waren gezien de vreedzame boodschap die de Dalai Lama bracht. In zijn video-opmerkingen voor de top zei de Dalai Lama namelijk:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We moeten meer aandacht besteden aan ecologie en onze watervoorraden behouden. We hebben hiervoor een eenheid van 7 miljard mensen nodig. We leven allemaal op \u00e9\u00e9n planeet. Onze fundamentele manier van leven is dezelfde. Dus volgens die realiteit moeten we gaan leven. We moeten dus niet langer de nadruk leggen op mijn natie, mijn land. We moeten meer aan de mensheid denken.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>De Dalai Lama voegde eraan toe dat het boeddhisme een aanvulling is op de moderne wetenschap, en hij suggereerde dat de beste manier om geluk te bereiken is te denken aan het welzijn van de mensheid op deze planeet.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"We are the World: An interview with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vlhlw01qWJs?start=2&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>De Dalai Lama kreeg in 1989 de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede deels voor zijn inspanningen voor het milieu en zijn geweldloze pleidooi voor het be\u00ebindigen van China&#8217;s onderdrukking in Tibet.<\/p>\n<p>Lee, de Taiwanese wetenschapper, kreeg in 1986 de Nobelprijs voor scheikunde. China heeft ook duidelijk gemaakt dat zij Taiwan, een onafhankelijk democratisch land in de Stille Oceaan, wil annexeren.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wetenschappers en het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken waarschuwen China<\/strong><br \/>\nIn hun brief zeggen de Nobelprijswinnaars &#8220;verontwaardigd te zijn over de poging van de Chinese regering om de wetenschappelijke gemeenschap te censureren en te intimideren door te proberen twee van onze collega-laureaten te verhinderen op een bijeenkomst buiten China.<\/p>\n<p>Hoewel ze opmerken dat velen van hen collega&#8217;s en vrienden in China hebben, waarschuwen de laureaten dat het gedrag van China alleen de wetenschappelijke samenwerking belemmerd. Als het gedrag doorgaat, zal het de bereidheid van de Laureaten be\u00efnvloeden om deel te nemen aan evenementen in China.<\/p>\n<p>Het Amerikaanse ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken vertelde ook aan NBC News dat zij op de hoogte waren van de pogingen van de Chinese ambassade om zich met de top te bemoeien en zei: &#8220;We veroordelen deze intimidatie en hebben de ambassade gewaarschuwd tegen dit ongepaste gedrag.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Het departement voegde eraan toe: &#8220;Dit is helaas weer een voorbeeld van de Volksrepubliek China die probeert de vrijheid van meningsuiting te onderdrukken en mensen en instellingen buiten China te intimideren wier opvattingen en waarden afwijken van de politieke agenda van de Chinese Communistische Partij.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hieronder volgt de volledige tekst van de brief van de Nobelprijswinnaars en de namen van de ondertekenaars.<\/p>\n<p>[accordion title=&#8221;<strong>Statement by the Nobel Laureates, July 28, 2021<\/strong>&#8220;]<\/p>\n<p>We Nobel Laureates are greatly concerned about a series of incidents that occurred prior to and during the Nobel Prize Summit, Our Planet, Our Future, held from April 26-28, 2021. The Summit brought together international thought leaders of all ages around the world to address some of the greatest challenges that humanity faces. The meeting was jointly sponsored by the Nobel Foundation and the US National Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>In late March and again in early April, the Chinese Embassy in Washington telephoned a senior National Academy official and insisted that two of the scheduled speakers, the Dalai Lama and Dr. Yuan T. Lee, should be disinvited and not allowed to speak at the Nobel Summit. The embassy was told at both times that no such disinvitation would take place.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday afternoon, April 25th, immediately before the Nobel Summit, the National Academy received an email from the Chinese Embassy demanding that the Dalai Lama and Dr. Yuan T. Lee not be permitted to speak. Again, the request was denied. During the first virtual session of the meeting on April 26th, the video transmission of the session was disrupted by a presumed cyber-attack.<\/p>\n<p>Again, on April 27th another cyber-attack disrupted the entire platform. Regardless of whether these attacks were linked to the demands from the Chinese embassy, we are outraged by the Chinese governments attempt to censor and bully the scientific community by attempting to prevent two of our fellow Laureates (or indeed anyone) from speaking at a meeting outside of China.<\/p>\n<p>The future of our planet will require collaboration between all nations and all scientists across the globe. Many of us have valued scientific colleagues and long-standing friends in China, with whom we interact productively. Unfortunately, actions such as those described above only serve to hinder such essential cooperation, and if continued, will affect our willingness to participate in events in China, particularly those fully or partially sponsored or supported by the Chinese government.<\/p>\n<p>We strongly believe that the free and open expression of ideas and the freedom of assembly are basic human rights, and international forums such as the Nobel Summit are essential means of finding solutions, maintaining international trust, and securing a more just and prosperous future. In so doing, these efforts will confer great benefits onto humankind.
