The English edition of The Dalai Lama & Havel: Warriors for Truth & Love is out, officially launched during the high-level International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance Conference and in the presence of Czech President Petr Pavel.
The launch, held in Prague, marks a symbolic moment as the Dalai Lama celebrated his 90th birthday this year and Václav Havel would have celebrated his 90th birthday in 2026. The original Czech edition appeared in 2021, but this new version opens the door for a global audience to follow their encounters, values and shared belief in the power of truth, compassion and moral clarity.
ICT Europe played an active role throughout the past year, working closely with the authors to bring the English edition to life and make sure the stories resonate with international readers.
“The story of friendship between President Václav Havel and the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet clearly demonstrates that features such as compassion, love, tolerance or altruism know no borders and are universally compelling.”
– Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic
“This book beautifully captures the friendship of two extraordinary men whose lives remind us that compassion, truth and courage are the greatest forms of leadership. Their example could not be more relevant today.”
– Richard Gere, Chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet
The publication also underscores the lasting relevance of both men’s message: that standing up for human dignity isn’t tied to one country or one era. It’s a responsibility that continues.
The book is now available via savetibet.nl/shop.
